Complete Lidding Inspection with OCV & Bar Code Grading

Optel Vision, the leaders in Inspection, Integration & Service for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmetic packaging lines, will be exhibiting its Optel Vision Lidding Inspector at Pack Expo International 2006. The Optel Vision Lidding Inspector offers companies a complete solution for unit-dose lidding inspection because it is the only provides companies with an online solution that inspects and verifies all printed information.

The Optel Vision Lidding Inspector includes a specially designed, ultra-compact optical head, a touch-screen HMI and a processing unit that houses the array of proprietary vision inspection software tools required for such a vision application. The system's features and capabilities will allow companies to easily add and integrate accurate, complete lidding inspection that includes OCV, bar code verification and bar code grading onto their current and future blister lines.

"We have worked hard to develop a solution that is really a cut above what is available on the market. Most products only offer random inspection of information, and others don't offer bar code grading, but we offer a solution that carries out accurate inspection of all printed information on the lid stock," stated Louis Roy, president Optel Vision. "The potential for this system is very high especially since most prescription drugs and over-the-counter drugs commonly used in hospitals must comply with the FDA Bar Code Label Requirement for Human Drug Products and Blood rule withing 60 days of drug approval. Existing drugs only had to February 25, 2006 to comply," he also stated.

Accurate inspection of printed information on lidding requires an array of highly precise vision inspection equipment and software tools. Images must first be accurately acquired at line speeds and then information must be inspected and verified by a number of software tools. For example, inspection of human readable information requires precise verification through optical character verification (OCV). Inspection of unit-dose symbologies (RSS, RSS Composite, DataMatrix, etc.) require precise verification followed by bar code grading. Furthermore, the system's optical head must contain specialized lighting that can be optimized for for inspecting information when it is printed on reflective material.

With its close to 20 years of experience and its growing line of vision inspection solutions, Optel Vision will continue to build on its reputation for excellence and reliability on an international level and will continue to meet the challenges and the needs of today's and tomorrow's companies by providing them the very best in: Inspection, Integration & Service.
