The Optel Vision Embossed Code Tool allows for complete inspection and verification of embossed variable data such as Braille, product names, symbologies and etc. on a wide range of substrates. The Braille labeling requirement on all pharmaceutical products in Europe, coupled with the increase in use of embossed codes as product packaging identification or as security features have been the driving force behind the development of this new vision inspection tool.
Embossed codes can be found on a variety of products, such as foil pouches, vial crimps and secondary paper packaging. Accurate inspection of embossed codes first requires enhanced lighting for accurate image acquisition, followed by specialized algorithms for inspection analysis. "Simply offering a software tool for such an application is only part of the answer," stated Louis Roy, president of Optel Vision. "To really provide a solution, companies must be willing and capable of furnishing all the necessary elements such as optimal lighting, when it comes to complex applications such as embossed code inspection," he added.
