Optel Vision is becoming more and more known in the industry; many of our customers are specifying Optel Vision as their inspection supplier of choice. From our stand point we have enjoyed great service and support from evaluation of the project to the installation and right through to the field support. We have installed multiple Optel Vision units so the familiarity of working with their people really helps.

For NJM/CLI it is important to see what the customer really needs in a regulatory sense and to understand what the industry is doing so we do not burden the customer with unnecessary options.

The key factor to be considered when choosing a vision system supplier is ’’Turnkey Support”. There are a lot of variations when it comes to quoting a vision system so we prefer to send the samples to the vision supplier and have the evaluation supported by the supplier. It is important to identify your needs in great detail and get plenty of references.

Looking Ahead

Over the last 10 years the industry has changed, Vision inspection used to be ’’a nice to have’’ however now it is ’’a must have’’. There have been a lot of changes forced on our customers from a regulatory standpoint as well as from a quality control stand point.

Looking ahead, I believe package inspection will become standard; eventually this option will be integrated into each machine. As mentioned previously, I believe the hardware for machine control will have the capacity to handle inspection so I believe the role of the vision companies will be to correctly identify the lighting and camera requirements and of course supply the software.
