Making the Grade
In the pharmaceutical industry, there is no margin for packaging error. Making the grade is not an option, it is fundamental to the success of a company’s product and to the safety of millions of patients worldwide. Today, more and more companies are printing variable data on labels online. A growing number of pharmaceutical companies require the printed code to be ANSI grade B quality or better, to ensure the accurate recording of critical information.
Optel Vision’s Code Inspector™ now delivers powerful inline bar code grading for Code 128, RSS, UPC, 2 of 5 and Code 39. The system verifies the grade of each bar code as it passes under the read head.
Data from the read head is then processed by Optel Vision’s operating system that is programmed to measure edge determination, minimum reflectance, symbol contrast, modulation, minimum edge contrast, quiet zones, decidability, blemishes and opacity.
System Parameters
The Code Inspector™ inspects all seven ISO (ANSI) parameters together with added features for determining blemishes, opacity and human readable verification. One high-resolution CCD camera delivers precision code reading and makes more detailed analysis of even small and truncated codes possible.
