FDA Announces New Initiative to Protect the U.S. Drug Supply Through the Use Of Radiofrequency Identification Technology
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today stepped up its efforts to improve the safety and security of the nation's drug supply through the use of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. FDA launched this effort by publishing a Compliance Policy Guide (CPG) for implementing RFID feasibility studies and pilot programs that are designed to enhance the safety and security of the drug supply. This action continues FDA's commitment to promote the use of RFID by the U.S. drug supply chain by 2007.

Robotic Vision Systems files for bankruptcy, reports SEC action
Nashua, NHRobotic Vision Systems Inc.? (RVSI) reports that it has filed a voluntary petition under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manchester, NH. The company intends to continue operating its business while in Chapter 11 as a 'debtor in possession' under the code, and intends to propose a plan of reorganization to the bankruptcy court for its approval.

While clustering projects are a fairly new phenomenon here in the UK, in some other countries collaborative projects have been improving companies’ competitiveness and new product development rates for some years. A few such clusters, in fact, exist on an international level, allowing participating countries’ expertise to be pooled, thus maximising the potential of some extremely varied skills bases.

The European Commission EUTIST-IMV (European Take-up of Essential Information Society Technologies – Integrated Machine Vision) is one such project. A collaboration between European companies and universities with machine vision knowledge and expertise, the initiative aims to help European companies to innovate and improve their businesses by using machine vision technology.
